Experian is terrible no matter which way you look at them. A few weeks ago I checked my bank account and there was a $16.95 debit from Experian. When I called the find out why the woman said "its because you checked your credit". First off, I was under the (correct) impression that you get to view your credit report for free once a year. Second, I didn't even check my credit. When I told the "customer service" rep this she said that because I had checked my credit one year ago and I could check it again they charged me for my membership. I found that pretty interesting. They just randomly decide when to take people's money.
Aside from the swindling you out of money, they are horribly inaccurate and when you try to fix it they are completely unresponsive and useless. Aside from the fact that they have yet to note that my identity was stolen in 2004 (which they have assured me many times they'd do), they have 2 inaccurate addresses on my credit report. One is the address of my grandparents (who have been gone for at least 10 years) and one isn't even a residential address. I don't know what it is. What's even worse is there are quite a few companies that only use Experian to check your credit. If they want to take personal responsibility for reporting incorrect information to creditors, that's fine. Until that point, they need to report accurately.
I also find it interesting that no where on their website is there an e-mail address to contact them for customer service support. There is a corporate phone number, but that's it.
